Important Notice
Your (travel) insurers, under the Association of British Insurers General Business Code of Practice, have to bring to your attention some of the important features of your insurance policy,
including:
Health Conditions – Very Important
1

It is a special condition that no Holiday/Journey is booked or undertaken
against medical advice.

2

It is a special condition that you are not aware of any reason why the Holiday/Journey may be cancelled or curtailed.

3

It is a condition of this policy that any insured person is not covered for related claims under sections 1 and 2 of this policy if they have a medical condition which they have suffered from, or for which medication,
advice or treatment has been received in the last 12 months, unless that person has contacted the MEDICAL SCREENING HELPLINE on 0870 366 9373 and been formally accepted by the Underwriters in writing and additional premium paid if required.

Failure to comply with the above
may prejudice your claim.
4

Cover cannot be provided for travel undertaken for the purpose of obtaining
medical treatment or if an insured person has a terminal condition is travelling against the advice of a medical practitioner or
where at the time of issue of this policy is an
in-patient in (or awaiting admission or booked to be admitted to) a hospital, hospice or nursing home.

Policy Document

This gives you full details of what is and is not covered and the conditions of cover. You must read the insurance policy carefully.

Conditions and Exclusions

Conditions and exclusions will apply to individual Sections of your certificate while general exclusions, conditions and warranties will apply to the whole of your insurance certificate.

Health:

Your certificate contains restrictions regarding pre-existing medical problems concerning the health of the people travelling and of other people upon whose health the trip may depend. You are advised to read the document carefully.

Property Claims

These claims are paid based on the indemnity value of the goods at the time you lose them, and not on a ‘new for old’ or replacement cost basis.

Policy Limits

Most sections of the policy have limits on the amount the insurers will pay under that section. Some sections also include other specific limits, for example, for any one item or valuables in total. You are advised to check your policy if you intend taking valuable items with you.

Policy Excesses

Under most sections of the policy claims will be subject to an excess. This means that you will be responsible for paying the first part of each claim. The amount you have to pay is the excess.

Reasonable Care

You will need to take all reasonable care to protect yourself and your property as you would if you were not insured.

Complaints

The insurance policy includes a Complaints Procedure, which tells you what steps you can take if you wish to make a complaint.

Fraud

It is a criminal offence to make a fraudulent claim.

Hazardous Activities

The policy may not cover you when you take part in certain hazardous activities e.g. mountaineering, scuba diving – additional cover may be available on request.

Cooling Off Period

Your insurance certificate contains a cooling off period of 14 days during which you can return the insurance document and get a full refund if you have a justifiable reason for being dissatisfied with the cover it provides. The Insurance Policy will be subject to English Law unless agreed otherwise.

The insurance is valid for departures from 01 September 2004 to 31 December 2004 for trips ending prior to 31 December 2005. For rates, terms and conditions from 01 January 2005 please call 0870 777 7765 for further details.
